Legacy Elementary PTO Read-A-Thon

March 2-15, 2018

The Legacy Elementary PTO is hosting a Read -A-Thon to raise funds for more leveled reading books, classroom libraries, and other valuable tools and resources for the school. The Read-A-Thon kicks off on March 2nd, Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day, and runs through March 15. During this time students can gather sponsors for up to 10 readings sessions.

How it works?

Thursday, February 22, 2018 information about the Read-A-Thon will come home in Thursday folders.
Families are encouraged to use the information to create a personal page on the Read-A-Thon website. Parents use social media and email to share with family and friends to gather sponsors for their readers. Sponsors will make a flat donation via credit card, debit card, or PayPal directly to Read-A-Thon. After creating the personal page children can choose one small prize that will be delivered 10 days after the Read-A-Thon ends.

March 2nd_ 15th each child is encouraged to read for 10 reading sessions and log their time on their personal page (log in information will be provided).

Each grade level will have a different amount of time to read:

o   PreK, Kindergarten,1st : 10 minutes per day for 10 days
o   2nd -3rd : 20 minutes per day for 10 days
o   4th -5th  : 30 minutes per day for 10 days
     The Read-A-Thon ends March 15th.
To celebrate the end of the Read- A- Thon, March 16th will be a pajama day. One teacher from each grade level whose class has the highest amount of donations will receive a prize to purchase reading materials or to build up their classroom library.

 Happy Reading!
